Amazon Prime Price Increase: Is It Worth It?
Amazon started their Amazon price subscription in 2016 and the price is going up yet again.
The membership has its perks, like the most common one the 2 day shipping but many people forget that it also includes: Same day shipping, prime video, Rewards for shopping at Whole Foods & Prime reading.
Amazon is currently raising its price from $119 annually to $139, starting February 18th, 2022 for new customers and March 25th, 2022 for current customers. Customers who are paying monthly will see an increase from $12.99 to $14.99 a month. If you are an Amazon Prime student, the price will increase to $7.49 monthly or $69/year. For qualifying EBT and government assistance recipients, the price of membership will increase to $6.99 monthly.
Their reason is that they will have more benefits for their members to use and the higher cost of business operations.
Is it worth it?
Ever since Amazon launched the prime membership they have increased their services so we are expecting better service from them with the price increase. Their 2 day shipping model has forced competition such as Walmart and Target to provide a much faster shipping to their customers.
Due to the recent pandemic that caused the world to shut down, more people are falling in love with convenience. Depending on what you order from Amazon, you no longer have to wait 2 days for the product, you may receive it the same day or in a few hours. Less people are going to stores to buy basic necessities such as toothpaste or mouthwash.
Is it worth it to keep the membership? If you shop for more than $40 monthly on Amazon, then it is best to keep it to take advantage of the shipping and the many other rewards that Amazon has to offer.
